Captain Offered Fresh Terms As Seven Depart

Coventry City have officially confirmed the news that seven first-team players, as well as an additional eight U21s players have all been released by the Championship side, following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.

The Skyblues suffered a heartbreaking end to a thrilling campaign, after they were beaten by Luton Town on penalties in the play-off final at the weekend, but work now begins for Mark Robins' side.

Captain Liam Kelly has been offered a fresh one-year contract with the club, however Fankaty Dabo, Julien Dacosta, Todd Kane, Sean Maguire, Michael Rose, Martyn Waghorn and Tyler Walker have all been released.

> Fankaty Dabo missed the crucial penalty, which cost the Skyblues. He joined the club in July 2019, and helped to guide the club to the League One title, making a total of 131 appearances for the club, following his arrival from Chelsea.

> Julien Dacosta arrived in July 2020, following the clubs promotion to the second tier. However, he found game-time hard to come by and had three separate loan stints with Portimonense, Shrewsbury Town and AS Nancy.

> Todd Kane arrived on a free transfer in August 2021, after his controversial exit from QPR. Unfortunately, he found game-time hard to come by and subsequently spent the remainder of the 2022/23 season with League One side Charlton Athletic.

> Sean Maguire was signed by Mark Robins in January 2023, as cover for the injured duo of Tyler Walker and Fabio Tavares. The Irishman was limited to just seven appearances and failed to contribute to a goal.

> Michael Rose arrived back in July 2019, after signing a pre-contract agreement from Ayr United. The Scotsman scored a handful of goals, including a famous equaliser against Portsmouth and a man of the match performance, during an FA Cup defeat to Southampton.

> Martyn Waghorn signed from Derby County but only managed to score twice in 42 appearances for the Skyblues. He also managed three assists but spent the second-half of last season with Huddersfield Town.

> Tyler Walker arrived for a six-figure fee, following the clubs promotion to the Championship. He finished his debut season as the clubs top-scorer but his confidence quickly vanished and has been a bit-part player, struggling with injuries since. Although he did have a bright end to his Skyblues career.

We would like to thank every player for their hard-work and dedication and we wish them all the best in the future!
