Skyblues Land Dasilva

Coventry City have officially announced their first summer signing, as Bristol City defender Jay Dasilva pens a four-year contract at the CBS Arena, ahead of the 2023/24 EFL Championship campaign.

The 25-year-old was confirmed to be leaving the club, in their official retained list, which was published last month. It's also no secret that Dasilva was set to sign for the club in January 2023, in a deal that would have seen Jack Currie sign for Bristol City from AFC Wimbledon, whilst Jake Bidwell was set for a move to Championship opponents Birmingham City. However, Bristol City failed to land their man, causing the domino effect to be cancelled.

Dasilva is a product of the Chelsea academy and worked alongside the likes of Fankaty Dabo, Todd Kane and Kasey Palmer, all under Adi Viveash, who is now the Skyblues assistant manager. At Chelsea, he enjoyed two loan spells with Charlton Athletic, before having one with Bristol City. He then signed permanently for the club in July 2019, completing a £2million switch. In total, he made over 140 appearances for Bristol City, grabbing 11 assists and scoring twice, including a memorable strike against Stoke City.

The wing-back joins as competition for Jake Bidwell, becoming the clubs fourth contracted defender for next season. He also becomes the clubs first official signing of the Summer transfer window and will join the club on July 1st.

Welcome aboard Jay!
