Preview | Shrewsbury Town Vs Coventry City (Friendly)

Coventry City will travel to League One side Shrewsbury Town for our second pre-season friendly, ahead of the 2023/24 EFL Championship campaign, aiming to make it back to back wins, following our 4-0 win against Forest Green Rovers.

The Team

Following their pre-season tour in Portugal, the Skyblues are back with five new additions into their side. The battle between Ben Wilson and new signing Brad Collins is likely to continue, whilst the clubs latest signing Joel Latibeaudiere is expected to feature, as well as a returning Gustavo Hamer, following his injury setback.

Previous meeting

The last time the two sides came face-to-face was back in December 2019, during an EFL League One clash as the Skyblues went on to win the league title. In the first 45 minutes, both sides had chances, but it was the Skyblues who struck first after 26 minutes, when a cross from Jamie Allen, was turned in by the head of Jordan Shipley to make it 1-0.

Continuing into the second-half, Shrewsbury pulled level on 68 minutes through Scott Golbourne's close range finish. However, in the dying moments, the home side secured all three points when Shaun Whalley was on hand to convert Ryan Giles' cross to make it 2-1.
