Coventry City travel to League Two side MK Dons for our third pre-season friendly, ahead of the 2023/24 EFL Championship campaign, aiming to return to winning ways, following Saturday's draw against Shrewsbury.
The Team
The Skyblues are likely to field a very strong side to face MK Dons on Tuesday, with new signing Bobby Thomas set to feature for the first time, following his move from Burnley. Several U21s including Justin Obikwu are also likely to feature, with the opening match against Leicester creeping ever closer.
Previous meeting
The last time the two sides came face-to-face was in September 2020, during an EFL Cup match, in the first competitive fixture following the outbreak of COVID-19, which brought a halt to the 2019/20 campaign.
The first-half began with chances for either side, as Carlton Morris (MK Dons) and Tyler Walker (Coventry) went close for their respective sides.
After 28 minutes, the game picked up as Coventry's Declan Drysdale was sent off for a professional foul, which resulted in a penalty for MK Dons. Up stepped Carlton Morris who saw his penalty saved by Marko Marosi.
In the second-half, Morris was denied for a second time by Marosi from close range. Coventry's Ryan Giles went close for the Skyblues, only to be denied by a flying save by Lee Nicholls.
However, in the 82nd minute, the Skyblues won the match after Ryan Giles' cross wasn't dealt with properly and Tyler Walker was on-hand to side foot home from close range.
It almost got worse for MK Dons late on as Amadou Bakayoko hit the post from close range, which almost made it 2-0.
