Allen Absence Explained

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has confirmed in his post-match interview, that midfielder Jamie Allen has been absent from the Skyblues pre-season camp due to a heart problem.

The midfielder has been in hospital to undergo tests and has been awaiting the all clear signal from the professionals, which he has now received and has since returned to training ahead of the new season.

What's happened?

According to Robins, Jamie Allen has been in hospital after suffering with a heart issue. The midfielder was admitted to hospital with pericarditis, which is also known as inflammation round the heart.

As such, the midfielder has had to undergo heart tests and wasn't allowed to return to pre-season training or feature in the Skyblues training camp in Portugal.

Our View

Hearing that Jamie Allen is back will be a major boost to the clubs midfield options but it is important that everyone involved takes things slow and steady.

Allen will be at least three weeks behind the rest of the squad, which puts him in doubt of featuring against Leicester City in the next couple of weeks, but to hear that he now has the all-clear is a huge piece of information that everyone can be happy with.
